Box League

Singles Box League Rules

Effective February 1, 2011

Format:  Play one match against each of the other three players in your box before the end of the month.  Your first match should be scheduled no later than the 15th of the month.  The player with the highest point total of each box will move up a level while the player with the lowest point total will move down. Players joining/leaving the league will affect this movement.  Players rejoining the league will be placed according to their ladder ranking.  New players will be placed appropriately by the league director.  All matches will consist of best two out of three regular set match play.  Any set reaching 6-all will be decided by a 12 pt. tie-break game. If you split the first two sets the match will be decided by a super tie-break game (which is a regular tie-break game except you play up to ten (10) points instead of seven.) When the buzzer sounds, the match is over and the total number of games will be counted. Any games in progress will not be counted.

Balls & Scorecard:  Please pick up a can of balls and the scorecard at the front desk as you check in for your match.  Following the match return them to the front desk.  Be certainly the score is correct and written legibly.

Scheduling: You may schedule your matches up to nine days in advance, tell the front desk you are scheduling for flex league. Always check in at the front desk before your match.  If you book a court and no show you will be charged for the court time.

Rules and tardiness: All USTA rules governing play are in effect. Warm-up time should be limited to ten minutes. If a match begins after that time because one player arrives late, the late player will concede the following games at the onset of the match: 0-9 min = loss of the spin, 10-14 min = loss of spin and 2 games, 15-20 min = loss of spin and 3 games. If a player arrives more than 20 min. late, the player will be considered a no show and concedes the match.

Defaults/Forfeit:  If a player contacts you, you must respond within 96 hours.  This is a common courtesy to your fellow competitors and will aid in the scheduling process.  Failure to do so will result in a forfeited match and you opponent will be awarded a 4-0 victory.  If you do not receive a response, please let the league director know right away.

Joining/Dropping:  A player can join or drop the Box league on a monthly basis.  If you would like to join, please contact the league director before the 1st of any month to join that month.  Once in the Box league you will remain in the league until you request to be taken out.  All requests to be taken out must be made via the Box League website, and received by the 21st of the month.
